Severed Head in a Jar

Hard to see how it was the undercover officer's fault. He was following direct orders by people who should have known.

Severed Head in a Jar, though it was embarrassing, I agree it was a reasonable mistake -- worse mistakes have been made by police under the pressure of an emergency situation.

But since the "undercover" officer was presumably not in uniform or in a police car -- and surveillance videos are often not real clear -- I can visualize how the mistakes could be made by those giving him instructions, too.

yeah worse mistakes have been done...like raiding the wrong family's house and holding women and children captive under gunpoint before realizing they had the wrong address...

I had to chuckle - now you know that poor cop is going to get some god awful nickname by his mates and he'll never live this down!

I wonder if he beat himself up over this.

I'm absolutely certain that his fellow officers will take care of the mental/emotional beat-down for a long, long time. Poor guy. Nothing more embarrassing than putting your own 'kick here' sign on your arse.

Too bad it wasn't a Seattle/King County cop....they always chase the wrong people. Except when they chase the wrong people they end up "beating the mexican piss" out of them or tackling the wrong guy, throwing him into a wall and putting the guy into a permanent coma. That is, when they aren't beating 15 year old girls in cells or shooting people passed out in parked cars or guys with folded pocket knives.

It really was no ones fault. A person saw something and called it in. He was in the area and responded. However, the guys in the office probably figured it out quickly and was laughing their butts off ( I would have been ). And let him run circles for a long time.

That would be one that hangs around the station for years and years.
